Since this process of finishing a book and getting it published has been moving along, I’ve met or been involved with so many amazing creators and supporters of books and book makers. Writing a book is a lonely occupation for the most part, and now that it is coming out I am trying to shuck that inner introvert I’ve embraced over the last few years. All Lit Up Writer’s Block

All Lit Up, a page run by The Literary Press Group, a non-profit that supports 60 Canadian literary presses. Readers can order books from the All Lit Up website and find behind the scenes content about books, authors and publishers.

Read more about why I write, what my most rewarding moment as a writer has been, what inspired the idea for my book, and what I hope readers take away on All Lit Up

Darling Axe Chopping Blog

Darling Axe is a group of editors, industry professionals and award-winning writers who help hone writers’ work. I went on a retreat to Tofino last year with them and loved it. David and Michelle (both UBC CRW grads) offered so much insight into the storytelling process

Read about my early stumbles in the writing process, my breakthrough and further reflections on The Darling Axe Chopping Blog.

Excerpt. “The most important lesson I’ve learned is to try to finish writing the whole book first. By this I mean, figure out the basic plot, the narrative arc, and the yearning before tinkering too much with sentences. I’ve spent hours re-writing scenes until they are a thing of beauty and then, in the end, chopped them right out of the final manuscript.
